Look at it this way. For nine good months as an expectant mom you will feel like the old body that you once knew no longer exists. Emotions will go high and low, cravings for things you never thought could go down your throat, body aches all over that cannot really be explained and the list goes on and on.
After the entire roller coaster, then comes the D-day. If you are a first time mom, 12 to 18 hours is the time you will take to hold your new bundle of joy. Bundle of joy? You ask. Everybody in the family including your friends and neighbors will all be happy that you are now a mom.
Then, your world will seem to come crumbling down before your very eyes. You thought when you are over and done with the baby bump you would finally have good nights with lots of rest. But little did you know that you just entered into another tumultuous season that you have no clue when it will end.
Now, what do you do when you are at this point when you really hate being a mom and yet so in love with your newborn baby?
“express your feelings and need for help without beating around the bush or nagging”
#1. Always Ask For Help
When in need of help, never hesitate to ask for it from your partner. However, express your feelings and need for help without beating around the bush or nagging. Also ensure that you put gentle reminders so that he does not forget.
You can also ask for help from other members of the family that are close to you or even friends. A little baby is so much joy to have around and you would be amazed by the positive response from those around you.
#2. Be Yourself
In order to make your motherhood journey easy and enjoyable, just be you. Do not try to copy other moms’ way of life and just believe in your heart that you are doing the best. If inviting family and friends to your place to assist or sometimes going for sleepovers at theirs makes things easier for you and your family, then go for it. Just live your life.
#3. Make A Plan
It is always said that failing to make a plan is planning to fail. Well, this is applicable in a new mom’s life who has a ton of things to accomplish on a daily basis. By planning your day out and allocating duties to those helping you, your day will be so much fun and full of ease. This will also reduce the level of stress tremendously.
#4. Take Some Time Off
When making a plan, make sure you allocate some time to be off. During this time, you can engage in activities that make you feel happy and better. This could be a hobby, reading a book, exercising, having a coffee date with your friends or even resting and taking the much needed nap. Be assured that your baby will just be fine and everything will turn out well.
#5. Seek Professional Help
Rearing a child comes along with a huge emotional toll that can sometimes lead to mental illnesses. However, this does not mean that as a mom you are helpless. In case all the above is not working out for you, it is good to seek professional help before it is too late. As a new mom you could be suffering from an anxiety disorder, postpartum depression or any other mental related issues. You can always contact, consult or even book an appointment with professionals near your locality.
