As a woman being able to take care of your needs brings a lot of joy and contentment. So having an opportunity to offer your skills, services or products for a financial income is a great achievement. But how do you balance working full time and being a mom? This is a question that all moms ask at a certain point in their lives.
"For most working moms, the need to be perfect in all their areas of life can be overwhelming."
Some Of The Challenges That You Will Face As A Working Mom
#1. Dealing with guilt
The society has for a long time dictated roles played by men and women. For instance, women are care givers in the family and so they are expected to be at home cooking and taking care of their children and husbands. For this reason many women feel guilty when they go out to seek work or employment. This can eventually lead to poor performance in the work place.
#2. Lack of free time
Since working moms still have an important role to play at home, they barely get their free or self time. This can lead to burn out and depression. Some free time is necessary to unwind and rejuvenate. Working moms must be intentional in setting aside personal time that should not have any of the daily activities allocated.
#3. Perfectionism
For most working moms, the need to be perfect in all their areas of life can be overwhelming. This can lead to serious burnout and poor performance. It is okay for working moms or any mom for that matter to be imperfect at times.
#4. Misunderstood Priorities
The society often misunderstands working women priorities. Working women are always perceived differently from working men which should not be the case. It is always seen as if working women or moms have neglected their home-making responsibilities.
#5. Indecision to pursue passion and dreams
Most moms often find themselves torn between following their passion or dreams and doing just what is necessary. In fact women may feel trapped by their family responsibilities which should not be the case.
#1. Be confident in your abilities
Decide to first of all believe in yourself and be confident in your abilities. You can successfully offer the best at your workplace as well as at home. Always strive to get better at what you do at home and at your workplace.
#2. Allocate for your own free time
Make sure to allocate your own free time in your busy schedule. This will give you room to relax, reset, and rest. This time should be daily, weekly, monthly and yearly. For instance, have an hour or so daily and also have some weeks yearly where you can even go for a vacation.
#3. Take it Easy
Don’t get so hard on yourself. Sometimes doing just what is necessary is good enough to get things going. Enjoy every moment you spend doing your chores at home or at workplace without feeling the huge pressure of being perfect. All you need to do is offer your best.
#4. Make a workable plan
With a good viable plan, you will be in a position to set your priorities right hence dispelling societal beliefs. A good plan will set out time for every activity that needs to be done at home or at work. At the end of the day all that matters is to get things done.
#5. Value your passion and dreams
If you are passionate about it, then you should definitely do it. Do not undervalue your passions and dreams or blame your home responsibilities for doing so. Always ask for assistance from your partner, family and friends. By doing so, you will have ample time to actualize your passion which could be of benefit to many more people and the whole society at large.
